Sooji halwa is a delicious Pakistani sweet dish. If we say its an IndoPak combo sweet dish that is right description. It’s made with fine semolina, sugar, ghee/butter, nuts and flavoured with cardamom powder. Semolina is called as sooji, in Urdu. So mostly known as shoji ka halwa. This halwa recipe comes together in about 15 to 20 minutes maximum. The Halwa recipe we have been making for decades during family get-togethers, special occasions and festivals.
Ingredients
- Sooji(semolina) 1 cup
- Ghee/Butter 3 tbs
- Sugar 1 cup
- Water 3 cup
- Cardamon 3
- Nuts crushed 1/2cup(Almond, coconut, Pistachio)
Method
- In a Pan, heat the 4 tbs butter or ghee. Add cardamon, sauté until cardamon get light brown.
- Add semolina and sauté it until have nice smell and get colour light brown.
- Add sugar and 3 cups of water in it. Mix well, bring it to boil.
- Let sooji get soft and mix it well .
- Add crushed dry nuts and mix it.
- Put the lid on it and leave 5 minutes on very low flame.
- Dish out and serve with crushed nuts on Top.
