Fish Masala

Fish is most rich food to eat there is various way to make fish fry, grill fish and fish curry, fish masala .Fish masala delicious to eat. Fish masala with chapati is good option for dinner menu. Serve with chopped salad and mint yogurt raita make it more delicious.

Ingredients for Fish marination.

  • Fish 500g
  •  Lemon Juice 2tsp Garlic Chopped
  • 1 inch Ginger Chopped 1 tsp
  •  Plain Yoghurt 2 tbs
  •  Cumin Powder 1 tsp
  •  Coriander Powder 1 tsp
  •  Pomegranate seed Powder 1 tsp
  •  Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp
  •  Crushed chilli 1tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder 1 tsp
  •  Garam Masala Powder 1 tsp
  •  Salt 1 and 1/2 tsp
  •  Ground Black Pepper 1/2 tsp
  •  Fish fry masala  Optional,
  • one cup oil for frying

Masala

  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 large Onion fine sliced
  • 1 inch Ginger Chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic Chopped
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • 3 medium size fresh Tomatoes 
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • ½ tsp Red ChillI Powder
  • ½ tsp Red Chilli Flakes
  • Salt according to taste
  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Dry Fenugreek
  • 1 tbsp Garam Masala
  • 2 tbsp Plain Yoghurt
  • Coriander Leaves

Instructions

  1. Cut fish into 1 inch pieces and pat dry.
  2. Marinate in Lemon Juice, Garlic, Ginger, Yoghurt, Cumin Powder, Coriander Powder, Cinnamon, Pomegranate seeds Powder, Turmeric Powder, Chilli Powder, Garam Masala, Salt, Black Pepper and Fish Fry powder (if using). Leave aside for 30 minutes. 
  3. Heat 1 cup oil in a frying pan. Once hot, turn the heat down, add the fish and cook for until little brown. Take out fish from oil.
  4. In the same pan, use the same oil but take just 3 tbsp, add Cumin and once it sizzles add chopped Onion and fry till a deep golden brown. Around 15 minutes on medium low.
  5. Add Ginger, Garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Stir in tomatoes plus  leftover marinade and simmer on low for 10 minutes. Turn the heat up and let the masala bubble away for 10 more minutes on medium high.
  7. Add Turmeric, Cumin Powder, Coriander Powder, Red Chilli Powder, Chilli Flakes, Salt and Pepper.
  8. Cook for 5 minutes, add Fenugreek and Garam Masala. Cook for 1 minute on high. 
  9. Stir the yogurt in a bowl and then add to pan. Simmer for 1 minute.
  10. Add fry Fish. Cook covered on low for 3 to 5 minutes. 
  11. Serve with green chilli and Fresh Coriander over the top.

Served with the chapati or paratha. This is best option for dinner.
